I sing, I compose, I write lyrics.
I also create stage concepts (visuals, choreography and performance art,
and help others get their message across to their audience more effectively.
MY VOCAL PALETTE contains the warm and clear colours of a classically trained mezzo-soprano as well as some quirky tones I picked up along the way. I pride myself on exploring different genres and making them my own, from progressive rock to indie folk, from opera to free improvisation.
MY LYRICS range from concrete, sharp and witty to connotational and ambiguous. The skilled use of imagery is as important to me as considerations of sound quality. My approach to writing lyrics is a balance of creative impulse and analytical meticulousness.
MY SONGS are relatively simple and easy-listening for the most part, with contemporary folk music and everyday electronics being their main influences. In recent years I have become more interested in sound exploration and technological experimentation, but I am also not afraid of conventional beauty.
MY STAGE CONCEPTS are bespoke to each situation and the goals of the artist; when I conceptualise staging for my own work, I like it whimsical and exciting, using dance and performance art elements as well as audiovisual augmentation.
MY HOME is in musical theatre, and this reflects in all my work. It means I enjoy shaping the secret dialogue with my audience, I want there to be a connection. It also means that I love exploring the use of different voice colours, words, and visuals to imbue the air with meaning and connotations - however concrete or abstract. Every musical piece has a unique story to tell. I offer my voice, my words, and my visions so these stories can be told and felt.
